Getaway | Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

I recently traveled to Mexico for my college spring break with 8 of my best friends in my sorority. We stayed in a beautiful villa nestled in between the ocean and jungle. The whole vacation felt so luxurious: our villa came with two chefs that made us the most delicious authentic Mexican food and a driver to take us to the beach. The sunshine and time with my girls was much needed. My first trip to Mexico was quite the success, and I’m definitely going to have to return for the guacamole, strawberry daiquiris and salty beaches. The semester is going by so fast. It’s hard to believe I’ll be graduating in just a few short months- so many things are going to change.

Before I get too nostalgic, here are some photos to recap my spring break.

Getaway | New England

I’m no longer abroad, but I’m still on the move! I spent the last few days in my boyfriend’s coastal hometown of Newburyport, Massachusetts. We took a day trip to Maine, relaxed on the beach, and I got my lobster roll fix for the summer. There is something about New England that makes me so happy. I’m so drawn to the quaint towns, gorgeous coasts, and of course, the preppy lifestyle. I cherish each time I get to visit!

Have a great week.

Study Abroad Recap

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

My semester studying abroad in Europe ends this Thursday when I board my flight back to the States, stepping onto American soil for the first time in four months.  I cannot express how much I am going to miss the feeling of freedom, wanderlust, and exploration. I am going to miss the city of Florence, my host mom and her amazing cooking, and the Italian way of life. In these past four months I explored six countries, nineteen cities, and hundreds of landmarks. I tried new foods, met new people, and took over 2,500 photographs. I have made the most amazing memories and learned more about myself and more about the world than any class has ever taught me. I actually feel rejuvenated about life itself, and studying abroad sparked a sense of adventure within me that I never really thought was there. I even feel calmer about my future, bringing home a newfound sense of independence and confidence.

Here are some of my favorite highlights of my study abroad experience.

Getaway | Cinque Terre, Italy

I have been pinning photos of the beautiful, pastel stacked houses of Cinque Terre to my “Wanderlust” Pinterest board since I was in high school. I was thrilled that my dream to visit the unique place came true this weekend for my last trip of study abroad. The Italian Riviera is even more amazing than photos depict it. A day of hiking the Manarola coast, eating pesto focaccia by the Vernazza port, and laying on the pebbled Monteresso al Mare beach with a strawberry daquiri certainly added up to be an fun final trip.

I’m in denial that I only have ten days left in Europe, but I am getting very excited to head home and see my family and friends (and puppy) for the first time in four months!

Have a fantastic week!

Getaway | Venice, Italy

I was so excited this weekend to return to one of my favorite cities in the world, Venice! There is something magical and romantic about the winding streets and canals, and I was thrilled to spend the day there with my boyfriend. The only way to travel through the city is by boat, water taxi, or gondola, and wow is the bright turquoise water ever beautiful! I especially enjoyed the architecture of the city, which has much more Eastern influence than what I’ve studied thus far this semester. A day of strolling the streets and watching the boats go by was simply lovely, and we stopped at a local’s favorite for little sandwiches and Spritz’s, a typical Venetian drink. It’s safe to say that Venice holds a special place in my heart!

The temperatures in Italy are starting to warm up quite a bit, but with Venice being on the water I decided to play it safe with a maxi skirt, crepe Topshop tank, and Brandy Melville sweater. For the rest of the weekend in Florence, temperatures in the high seventies had me in breezy dresses and lace-up sandals.

Have a chic week!

Getaway | Almafi Coast, Italy

A trip down the coast- and many winding roads up a mountain- brought myself, a friend from school, and her family to some of the prettiest views I have ever seen in my life. A few days of walking past lemon groves, sipping prosecco on the terrace, and taking in this gorgeous panorama treated me well this weekend for my first time visiting the Almafi Coast. I was so thankful to have the experience and it was definitely a weekend I will remember my entire life. I have so much love for this beautiful country.

Happy Spring!

The coming of a new season is always exciting, but this year I am especially excited to be spending the first month of spring in Italy! The past three months, my professors and host mom told me over and over again to make sure I explore different destinations in Italy once the weather warms up because it is simply beautiful. They were definitely correct! I visited Pisa, Carrara, Siena, and San Gimignano this past weekend and they were simply gorgeous places. The rolling hills of Tuscany provide for amazing panoramas, and I had what is deemed “the best gelato in the world” in San Gimignano. I’m getting exciting for a trip to the Almafi Coast for the holiday weekend this Friday.

I can’t believe I only have a month left abroad! It will definitely be very bittersweet to leave this beautiful country.
