Summer Necessities

Fall Favorites (5).png

When life gives you lemons, make a lemonade cocktail and sit back to enjoy the summer weather. I am so excited about this season’s fun trends, from everyone’s obsession with lemons to being giddy for gingham. Cute prints and eye-catching detail seem to be a recurring factor- whether it’s on your umbrella, neck scarf, or espadrilles. I’m focusing on pairing breezy white and beige dresses with poppy accessories, as well as my favorite tactic of having my shoes be the outfit centerpiece.

What summer trends are you obsessed with?

1. BaubleBar Fringe Earrings

2. Soludos Espadrilles

3. For Love & Lemons One Piece

4. Nordstrom Tie-Front Midi Dress

5. Show Me Your Mumu Set

6. Bobbi Brown Highlighter

7. Raffia Clutch

8. J.Crew Umbrella

9.  Free People Pinstripe Top

10. J.Crew Lemon Print Bandana

Though the exciting back-to-school feeling is usually associated with the changing of the season, cooler temps, and leaves falling, the weather doesn’t tend to cooperate. Despite the almost unbearable 85 degree weather today, I wanted to incorporate fall fashion into my outfit. This Brandy Melville dress and these Forever 21 sandals are the perfect dark wine/eggplant hues to get me in the fall mood without causing me to sweat to death. The light fabric of the slip dress is airy enough for the September humidity, and has an open back making it an easy garment for a night on the town. However for class, I wore a light shrug in a neutral, oatmeal color to offset the burgundy colors and make the ensemble school-appropriate. Opting for earthy color tones helps match outfits to the autumn season, while still keeping cool comfort in mind.

Let’s hope for fall weather soon!

Fall Transition Pieces

{this campus never fails to impress me}

As I’ve said before on the blog, I’m all about putting together simple outfits that are chic yet still comfortable. September can be difficult because the temperatures are in the upper ninety’s on some days, while other days are a bit cooler as fall starts to creep in. I spotted this cotton black t-shirt dress on my last trip to T.J.Maxx and couldn’t resist its comfy, stretchy fabric… or its price of only $10. I paired it with this Forever 21 linen utility vest and aviator sandals for a late summer look that will carry me into fall.

What is another fall transition piece you like?

Back to School

{KJP bracelet, American Eagle sandals, Ish Boutique ring}

{American Eagle embroidered top, Very J shorts, Mixology necklace, Forever 21 sunglasses}

WHEW! The past two weeks have been a whirlwind as I moved back to Syracuse University for my junior year. I am living in an apartment off campus this year (room tour to come soon!) and have spent almost all of my free time unpacking, decorating, shopping for room supplies, and catching up with friends. Unfortunately, moving in to my apartment caused blogging to take a backseat the past week, but I am excited to be back with a first day of class outfit post!

While my mind says pumpkin spice lattes and sweaters, the unbearable humidity in Syracuse says otherwise. In order to beat the heat today, I wore my comfy Mixology shorts paired with this American Eagle embroidered top and gladiator sandals for a boho look. To add some prep, I wore my new KJP pearl bracelet (an anniversary gift from my boyfriend) and Kate Spade earrings.

The first week is always a bit stressful trying to adjust to new schedules and develop a weekly routine. I’m looking forward to my sorority’s first chapter of the year tonight, followed by gearing up for the second day of classes tomorrow!

Have a great week!

With summer winding down these next few weeks, my style has definitely become pretty laid back. At the beach, most of us are in bathing suits all day until we have to go to work. The dress code for my job is very casual, and I find myself throwing on a pair of patterned shorts with a t-shirt more often than not. Sometimes the best outfits are those that are easiest! I’m channeling a comfy yet preppy vibe with this ensemble, and I plan on repeating it next week when I’m running errands before heading to school.

What is your go-to simple summer outfit?

Fall Wishlist

Fall Favorites

I may be jumping the gun a little, but lately all I have been thinking about is September issues, crisp Autumn weather, and the cozy outfits to come. With mid-August being a time to prepare to head back to school, I did a round-up of some of the staples I’ve been eyeing to buy for the upcoming fall season.

  1. New Naked Palette– Seriously loving these new smoky shades.
  2. Wide-brim Fedora– A spin on a classic fedora in a deep wine shade.
  3. Loafers– I’ve been lusting over these leather loafers and their cute tassels.
  4. Madewell Pullover Sweater– A soft, light sweater for fall’s “in-between” weather moments.
  5. Furry Blanket– For cozy nights in or rainy day naps, this comfy blanket is a must.
  6. J.Crew Eyeglasses– I’ve been on the market for a new pair of eyeglasses, and this J.Crew pair is simply perfect.
  7. Barbour Jacket– The ultimate fall classic.
  8. Steve Madden Bag– My most recent obsession: Snakeskin.
  9. Zara Burgundy Booties– Love the fringed tassels.
  10. Madewell Flare Jeans– Paired with a crisp white button up and brown booties, these elongate the leg for a chic 70s vibe.

What are some of your fall favorites?

Monthly Muses | July

The Look:

{Forever 21 sunhat + sunglasses, Dolce&Gabbana lipstick + nail lacquer, Forever 21 red sundress, Brandy Melville light blue dress, Tucker for Target navy crepe shift dress}

The Inspiration:

{fresh cherries from Union Square Greenmarket}

To me, July is a month-long celebration. It kicks off with exciting Fourth of July fireworks and cookouts, and the party doesn’t just end there. The celebration of a hot American summer continues throughout the entire month with beach trips, bonfires, and adventures to the Farmer’s Market. The weather chimes in with this celebration, and unleashes its most humid, sunny temperatures that make it almost impossible not to eat at least 5 popsicles per day (mango + strawberry, please.)

On one particular trip to the Farmer’s Market, I was inspired by these delicious looking cherries against a navy blue gingham tablecloth, and the image stuck with me. My outfits this month definitely paid homage to the classic American summer embodied in this photograph, and seemed to mostly consist of breezy dresses paired with simple accessories. In the heart of Sundress Season, I chose to showcase the three dresses I wore the most throughout July, whether it was out to dinner or to the beach.

Enjoy the sunshine today (and a glass of sweet tea!)
