Happy Halloween everyone! It’s hard to believe today is the last day of October. After a seriously busy month, I decided to kick back with some crafts and a cup of Vanilla Chai tea today (its so yummy, I strongly suggest it.) I realized I haven’t done any creative hands-on activities recently, and this made me sad because crafting is one of my favorite pastimes (besides shopping and blogging, of course.) My friend Jess and I made our Halloween costumes (we are both being Pebbles from The Flintstones) and then I pulled out the paint to decorate my pumpkin. To paint it, I traced my monogram onto tissue paper from my computer screen. Then I taped the piece of tissue paper to the pumpkin and traced the monogram onto the pumpkin using a Sharpie, which leaves a nice little outline of your design on the pumpkin! Even though it was a simple craft, it gave my mind time to rest. With my favorite fall candles from Bath & Body Works burning nearby, it was a great way to wrap up the month of October.

Have a spooktacular Halloween night!

Eyelash Lace + Forest Green

{Free People scarf– a must have for the approaching winter months!}

Forest green is one of my favorite colors of the fall and winter season. I tie it into my outfits in any way possible (sweater, Vineyard Vines baseball cap, jacket, dress) and as shown here, pants. The deep green hue of these J.Crew jeans balanced out the monochromatic look of the creme sweater and cozy scarf. I loved playing with the aspect of texture as well, incorporating the super soft, brushed material of my new Free People scarf with the delicate detail of the eyelash lace trim of the sweater. Topped off with little light brown booties, this ensemble made for a cute and cozy fall outfit.

Enjoy your Tuesday!

Autumn Uniform

The temperatures seem to drop even more every week, which makes me more inclined to choose a big, cozy blanket scarf like this one from Asos to wrap myself up in before stepping outside. Paired with my favorite fall jacket from J.Crew and a cozy sweater from Urban Outfitters, this look has turned into my fall uniform. This past weekend was filled with fun fall festivities such as a hay ride and apple picking at a local orchard and movie nights bundled up with cozy blankets sipping hazelnut hot chocolate. I’m looking forward to some pumpkin carving and watching my favorite Halloween flick, “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” to get me through my last two midterm papers.

Have a fantastic, pumpkin-spice filled week!

Midterm Madness

Midterms hit me with full force this week. Just when I think I can’t handle another paper, exam, or group project… another one gets assigned. Trying to handle the impending stress while still being an active member of my sorority, extracurriculars, and activities can be really difficult sometimes. I’m not afraid to admit I’ve had my fair share of mental breakdowns throughout the past three years of college. However, over the years I have been able to realize the importance of taking breaks. Even if your break is only 30 minutes long and as simple as making yourself a cup of tea or hot chocolate, scrolling through Pinterest, reading a funny Buzzfeed article, or closing your eyes to take a power nap; it is still giving your brain time to refresh and rejuvenate.  I always feel less anxious after taking a mental break and am able to focus better on my assignments. My mental break this week involves writing this blog post, in which I’m focusing on scenes from this past weekend to get me through this stressful time.

Fall Getaway Packing List

IMG_9547IMG_9549This weekend I took a trip to New England. Because I was so busy last week, I only had a an hour to pack my clothes for the weekend come Thursday. Our trip was only for the weekend, so I didn’t want to overpack. I stuck to my usual packing formula and planned my outfits ahead of time so I wouldn’t have to bring my entire closet. Here is a list of what I packed for the trip!

  1. Black boots: These J.Crew boots go with everything and easily fit in my suitcase!
  2. Plaid blanket scarf: My favorite fall accessory to help pull an outfit together. Can also be used as an actual blanket during the car trip to your destination!
  3. Comfy Sweatshirt: For chilly nights and cozy lazy days!
  4. Preppy baseball caps: For hiding unruly hair and for looking cute and preppy!
  5. J.Crew jeans: Sturdy, can be worn with anything!
  6. Solid tops: I brought two neutral colored tops as well as a colored top. These shirts are comfortable and versatile.
  7. Cute fall jacket: I scored this adorable jacket at J.Crew on sale over the summer (a similar one is available now!) and I was so excited to wear it this weekend. Its light enough to not be considered a winter jacket, but still kept me warm when it was a little chilly this weekend.

Getaway | New England

I spent the weekend experiencing my first autumn in New England. My boyfriend and I drove to his hometown of Newburyport, Massachusetts on Thursday evening for a relaxing weekend away from campus. We drove all over on Friday, stopping to see beautiful coastal sights along the way. I couldn’t get enough of the gorgeous fall foliage or the cookie-cutter colonial houses. We made homemade pizza, tailgated for a Boston College football game, shopped, and went to a farmers market in town. It was a lovely weekend and the perfect way to recoup after some of the most stressful weeks of my college career. Here are some snapshots from my fall getaway.

Enjoy!

Apartment Room Tour

IMG_9532

It’s finally here! Here are some photos of my bedroom in my off-campus apartment this year. After over a month of living here, it’s finally starting to feel like home! When decorating this year, I wanted to encompass my favorite decor elements, such as fresh, white bedding and gold accents, as well as incorporate some newer, trendy design aspects, such as the gallery wall! I’m not allowed to use nails and my apartment came with mismatched furniture, so I did my best to make it look put-together and chic.

Enjoy!
