Monthly Muses | July

The Look:

{Forever 21 sunhat + sunglasses, Dolce&Gabbana lipstick + nail lacquer, Forever 21 red sundress, Brandy Melville light blue dress, Tucker for Target navy crepe shift dress}

The Inspiration:

{fresh cherries from Union Square Greenmarket}

To me, July is a month-long celebration. It kicks off with exciting Fourth of July fireworks and cookouts, and the party doesn’t just end there. The celebration of a hot American summer continues throughout the entire month with beach trips, bonfires, and adventures to the Farmer’s Market. The weather chimes in with this celebration, and unleashes its most humid, sunny temperatures that make it almost impossible not to eat at least 5 popsicles per day (mango + strawberry, please.)

On one particular trip to the Farmer’s Market, I was inspired by these delicious looking cherries against a navy blue gingham tablecloth, and the image stuck with me. My outfits this month definitely paid homage to the classic American summer embodied in this photograph, and seemed to mostly consist of breezy dresses paired with simple accessories. In the heart of Sundress Season, I chose to showcase the three dresses I wore the most throughout July, whether it was out to dinner or to the beach.

Enjoy the sunshine today (and a glass of sweet tea!)

Little Girl, Big City

{TJMaxx tank, Mixology shorts}

My time spent in NYC came to a close last week. As I sift through photos from the months I lived there this summer, my mind is filled with wonderful memories of all the beautiful sights, yummy meals, fun adventures, and even the hundreds of times I got lost. I am so thankful to have gotten the experience of living and working in the city, and I can’t wait to go back. There simply is no greater place in the world than New York City, and I hope you enjoyed seeing it through my posts.

Stay tuned for upcoming posts documenting the rest of my summer, which I am spending at my beach house. Though a stark contrast from living in NYC, I am happy to be back in my favorite beach town surrounded by salty air, lovely hydrangeas, and sunshine.

Classic Shift

{Forever 21 shift dress, Michael Kors watch, American Eagle sandals}

One of the best internship outfit staples I would recommend is a classic black shift dress. It looks chic and classy no matter what. You can dress it up with a pair of D’orsay pumps for work or a late-night dinner, or keep it casual with simple sandals and sunnies. It seems that the color black is the foundation of the fashion industry, and this concept definitely required some getting used to when I got to the city (my go-to outfit always involves color pops.) However, I understand the obsession with black, because this dress does manage to make me look more grown-up, which can be difficult when you are only 5’2!

Have a lovely Tuesday.

Patterned Pants

{Nordstrom patterned pants, Steve Madden shoes *on sale now*}

{Topshop scalloped top, Forever 21 necklace}

{inspiration for the last week of my internship}

Mondays call for Venti-sized coffees and a cute outfit. These patterned pants are perfect for pulling off a business casual look. Because my internship’s dress code is not completely fancy, I chose Steve Madden leather espadrille slip-ons to make the outfit a little more casual. To me the pants give off a boho vibe, but when paired with a crepe top and gold watch, look totally chic!

Happy Monday! May your coffee be extra strong today.

Weekend Recap

Friday Frocks | clean-cut Zara dress + a pop of neon

{Friday Night | rooftop views in the Flatiron District}

Saturday Night | dinner in Chelsea, watercolor tunic from Echo}

{Sunday Morning | latte at Happy Bones NYC + cat-eye sunnies}

I cannot believe I have been in the city for two months. Unfortunately, this past weekend was my last full weekend here… and I was determined to soak up every moment. After a night on the town Friday and a relaxing, cozy Saturday, I closed the weekend with a Sunday morning latte and a stroll through Little Italy (my dad would be proud.) I definitely won’t be ready to leave come next Saturday, but I’m grateful to have so many wonderful memories of my first summer in New York City to take home with me.

Have a great week!

Summer Scarves

{Forever 21 scarf + sandals, Nordstrom tank + bag}

After a weekend at the beach, I wasn’t quite ready to revert back to business casual clothing come Tuesday morning at 7am. This blue and white striped scarf from Forever 21 gave off a nautical vibe that reminded me of this past weekend, and I loved the way it looked with this peachy Nordstrom silk tank and red lipstick. I topped off the outfit with pearl earrings, a gold bracelet, and ballerina sandals for a casual summer look. Who says scarves are only for winter?

{a Fourth Of July classic}

{patriotic pup}

The Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays. The celebration of America is wonderful, and the fun little additions- such as sparklers + fireworks, summertime food, and patriotic clothing make it that much more exciting. I spent the holiday weekend with my family in Ocean City, Maryland. We spent our days lounging on the beach, and our evenings eating amazing food and watching the sun set from our deck. On the 4th, we gazed in awe at enormous firework displays and munched on Fisher’s Caramel Corn (an OCMD favorite.) Throughout the weekend, I was constantly grateful for my Maryland roots, and for my big Italian family. After a weekend of relaxing, I’m super excited to be back in NYC for two more weeks of interning! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

How did you celebrate America’s birthday?
